The Medical Ride is an Arizona-based non-emergency medical transportation (NEMT) provider. We transport patients to and from medical appointments, treatments, and procedures using wheelchair-accessible vans, stretcher vehicles, and ambulatory support — for people who need help getting there safely, but don't require an ambulance.

Wayne Parker founded The Medical Ride in 2022 after seeing how difficult it could be for seniors, wheelchair users, and recovering patients to find dependable transportation for routine medical care. As owner and day-to-day operator, Wayne remains directly involved in trip scheduling, driver coordination, and customer communication — not just the name on the door.
Drivers complete company orientation in wheelchair securement, passenger assistance, and defensive driving, along with CPR/First Aid certification, motor vehicle record review, criminal background screening, and drug screening where applicable. Vehicles are commercially insured for passenger transportation and inspected and cleaned between trips.

Arizona NEMT Questions & Answers
NEMT is transportation for patients who need help getting to and from medical appointments but do not require an ambulance or emergency care — covering trips like dialysis, physical therapy, doctor's visits, and hospital discharges.
The Medical Ride currently primarily accepts private-pay reservations. If you're arranging transportation through an insurance plan, healthcare facility, case manager, or AHCCCS provider, call us before booking so we can confirm available payment arrangements.
An ambulance is for medical emergencies and carries emergency medical personnel. NEMT is for scheduled, non-emergency trips and does not replace emergency medical care. If you or someone with you is experiencing a medical emergency, call 911.
We recommend scheduling at least 24 hours in advance whenever possible. Same-day rides may be available depending on vehicle and driver availability, and recurring appointments like dialysis or physical therapy can be arranged ahead of time.
